Mélanie's Way was inspired by a young woman who refused to let cancer define her, and today we want to recognize another young woman with the same spirit - Bailey Matheson.
Earlier this month, Bailey passed away at the age of 35 after a 2-and-a-half year battle with cancer, but everything we have learned about her shows that she was far from being defeated by the disease that took her life. Bailey chose to embrace every bit of time she had left by travelling the world (14 countries in less than 2 years after her diagnosis) and being a loving daughter, friend, and girlfriend. In her obituary, Bailey wrote: “35 years may not seem long, but damn it was good! Don’t take the small stuff so seriously and live a little.”
In lieu of flowers, Bailey asked for donations to Mélanie’s Way or Young Adults Cancer Canada - and we have been touched by the wave of donations and heartfelt messages that have come to us in her name.
We want to take this time to honour Bailey, because we are inspired by her words, her story, and the beauty of the memories she made with her loved ones. It is a privilege for us to be able to help carry on a part of Bailey’s legacy and share her light with you.
