Maddie’s Scotland adventures began on a beautiful summer day with her mother and sister. Before heading on to an overnight flight to Scotland (where her mum is from), the group kicked off their trip with a visit to Toronto. Maddie and her family were taken around on a tour with a personal tour guide and fairy godmother, Amanda Chalmers.
After their Toronto tour, Maddie, Brittany (her sister) and Ann (her mom) caught a red eye and headed to their next stop: Glasgow, Scotland. The group’s first day in Glasgow involved a whole lot of exploring. From there, Maddie and her family travelled to Oban, a quaint seaside town located on the west coast of Scotland surrounded by shores and beautiful countryside to take a little break from the city life.
The next stop was Inverness, a compact yet bustling city with the infamous Highlands, Eilean Donan Castle (one of the most photographed monument in Scotland) and much more at its doorstep. The group travelled onwards to Edinburgh, Scotland’s hilly and historical capital. From visiting a local haunted inn (pub) that dates back to 1516 to admiring beautiful cathedrals and iconic castles, Maddie not only embarked on new adventures each day, but was also able to spend quality time with her family!
While Maddie’s Scotland adventures involved visiting several iconic attractions at different cities and towns, Maddie was also able to meet with her mom’s family living there! This trip was significant to Maddie because it was something she wanted to do for her mom since she was young: “My mum would tell my sister and I of how beautiful the countryside is, her sighting of the Loch Ness monster and how much history there is to see and learn. This is something I told my mom when I was younger that I would eventually take her on when I got older.”
